About Me

I am a clinical psychologist, and I received my Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Alliant International University CSPP in San Francisco. I’ve always been curious about the underlying tensions within people and relationships. In a similar way, I wanted to learn more about myself and my own psychological underpinnings. The curiosity led me to majoring in psychology at U.C. Berkeley, where I received a BA degree for my undergraduate studies.

After graduation, I worked as an office manager and case manager at a mental health clinic that specialized in seeing Asian, Asian American, and immigrant patients. As an Asian American immigrant myself, I connected with them on a deep emotional level. Given that mental health and mental illness was stigmatized in my cultural upbringing, my experience at the clinic was an eye-opening one. I saw many Asian folks dealing with a wide range of psychological presentations being treated by a variety of clinicians. I embarked on my doctoral graduate program in clinical psychology shortly after.

I received extensive clinical training during my graduate schooling (e.g., psychological evaluations, psychotherapy, school-based setting, community-based work, exposure to diverse psychopathologies, and work with diverse populations). I completed my full-time APA-accredited internship at Access Institute where I received excellent training on psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychological assessment. At the end of my graduate program, I completed my dissertation on Chinese cultural values and parenting in immigrant families.

Currently, in addition to my private practice, I work as a staff psychologist at Richmond Area Mutli-Services (RAMS) where I provide outpatient psychotherapy services. I also work as a clinical supervisor providing clinical training for psychotherapists in training. At the clinic, I work with patients with severe mental health conditions such as psychosis, mood disorders, abuse and trauma, and characterological disorders. I also offer language-proficient services for Cantonese-speaking patients.
